Biography
* 20. 07. 1941.

The cellist Esther Kern-Nyffenegger was born and studied under R. Sturzenegger in Zurich where she also received her concert diploma. She studied under Casals, Mainardi and Janzer-Czako and performs as solo cellist with the Festival Strings Lucerne and numerous other orchestras in Europe and oversees. Nyffenegger performs as a chamber musician in various ensembles from duo to nonet. She teaches in Winterthur, Zurich and Lucerne and is guest professor at the National University in Tokyo. She premiered H. Sutermeister's second cello concert (to whom the concert was also dedicated) and the cello concert written in 1888 by Hans Pfitzner. She has made numerous recordings of familiar and less familiar works.
